Colin Firth, America’s favorite dashing Brit (sorry, Hugh Grant), is currently in negotiations to join Emily Blunt and Lin-Manuel Miranda in Mary Poppins Returns, the sequel to Disney’s original Mary Poppins movie.

Variety has learned that Firth will play the alliterative William Weatherall Wilkins, president of almost equally alliterative Fidelity Fiduciary Bank. Mary Poppins movies just can’t get away from those bankers, can they? Wilkins is a character who appears in P.L. Travers’ Mary Poppins Opens the Door, the third and last book in his Mary Poppins series, which sees Poppins and the Banks children embark on yet more magical and unexplainable adventures.

Mary Poppins Returns stars Emily Blunt as the ageless, magical nanny, with Lin-Manuel Miranda as street lamplighter Jack, along with Emily Mortimer and Ben Whishaw, the all-grown-up versions of the two children from the original movie. Meryl Streep will also be appearing as Mary Poppins’ cousin. The movie is set 25 years after the first one, and yes, it will be just as musical as the first one, with Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (who worked together on 2007’s Hairspray) writing original songs.

Will Colin Firth play a nice banker or a mean banker? Maybe he’ll be a banker who’s misunderstood at first, but through the whimsical magic of Mary Poppins he’ll learn how to be kind again. We’ll know soon enough, as Mary Poppins Returns is scheduled for December 25, 2018.
