We saw our first snowstorm this past weekend and I hope it's a good sign of what's to come this winter. Because here in Bozeman don't we celebrate the dropping of the mercury and the accumulation of snow? On Saturday November 12th, Avalaunch Fest is throwing a Pray For Snow Party featuring two musical acts, Murs and XV. Why do we embrace the winter so much in Bozeman? I've got a few friends who are dying to get out of town to a warmer climate but not me, here is my top ten list why we should pray for snow to keep falling.

    New Winter Gear

There's nothing like buying a new jacket in the fall. I'm talking about the big warm jackets that protect you from the wind and the snow. I would hate for thousands of Bozemanites to buy lavish winter jackets and not get a good amount of opportunities to wear them.

    Hot Chocolate

Hot chocolate is a wonderful thing. I enjoy it at coffe shops, restaurants, on my couch and at my work desk. And the colder it is the better it tastes. That's a fact.

    Snowball Fights

You can't freeze your fingers off trying to huck balls of ice at your friends' heads if we don't have any snow! I recommend preparing some of the above reason for after the snow ball fight so that you don't loose any appendages to the elements.

    Skiing/Snowboarding

I've waited we've waited seven months and I'm itching to get back up on the mountain. During the off season I only put on my snowboard gear and sat on the couch once. I'm hoping the next time I do I will at least be bundling up to get the mail in a snowstorm rather than watching Sunday afternoon football.

    Holiday Feeling

I could never live in a non-snow draped town during the winter holidays. Having Grown up in Montana, I still get a great nostalgic feeling of my youth when i see a snow covered sidewalk lined with green and white trees. Snow covering Christmas lights, and people scraping their windshields, it's all part of what makes the holidays jolly!

    Driving In the Snow

Driving in the snow can be stressful and dangerous but there is nothing like driving at night in a snowstorm on your way home from dinner or shopping. I just turn on some good music and stay below 20 and cruise on home.

    Friends and Family

Ever notice how friends and family are much easier to track down once the snow begins to fall. I find when I invite people over they stay longer not wanting to go back out in the cold. It's like, where ever you go when it's terribly snowy out, you feel so accomplished you arrived that nothing can get you down. Until you have to leave again...

    Filling Our Lakes

The snow in the winter makes for a great summer full of green environments and high lakes and rivers. Even those of you who hate Bozeman winters but love Boeman summers have reason to pray for snow this winter!

    Snowman/Structures

I'm making it a goal of mine to construct as many Snowmen as possible this winter. If you would like a snowman made in your lawn contact me at 406-582-2343 and ask for Cole. I'll even post a photo of it on our websites.
