Bobby Shmurda has been desperately trying to get out of jail since he was arrested last December on numerous drugs and weapons charges. But the embattled rapper has been denied bail on at least two separate occasions. Shmurda recently called into Hot 97 and explained his bail situation with radio personality Ebro Darden.

The “Hot Boy” rhymer wanted to clarified that a judge did not reject his bail request during a hearing earlier this month, but rather his petition to have his bail reduced was denied. Shmurda also added that does have the 10 percent required to post bail, but the judge wants the whole $2 million. He even added that the courts almost tried to raise it to $2.5 million but was rescinded.

Ebro then asked Shmurda what’s his label status with Epic Records. On the RapRadar podcast the label's CEO, L.A. Reid, explained why they couldn't help Shmurda out.

“Bobby Shmurda is not the same as Snoop Dogg and Murder Was the Case, who’s coming off The Chronic and [Doggystyle],” Reid said. “It’s a different era, you know? And we’re a publicly held corporation. We just aren’t in the same position we were in back in those days so it’s a different day.”

To sum it up, as a publicly-traded corporation, they are not in the position to put their company up as collateral to bail Shmurda out.

The 21-year-old rapper said he hasn’t heard from Epic or L.A. Reid in a long time, which is unfortunate. Despite his ongoing incarceration, Shmurda appears to be in good spirits.

Shmurda also warned his fans to not copy what he raps about on his songs because prison is not a fun place to be. “This shit ain’t sweet. To all the kids out there, my music is not for nobody to go reenact or something. It’s something that I been through, it’s something that is where I come from,” he said.

"[The criminal justice system] is not playing with us right now. Young black men, young kids period," he adds. "They not playing with nothing right now. They trying to take eight years out my life right now.”

We'll know Bobby Shmurda's fate when his criminal trial begins on Feb. 22, 2016.
