Merry Christmas from the folks at Marvel Studios!

A brand new 30-second trailer for Black Panther dropped Monday (December 25), giving fans an extended look inside the high-tech, action-packed world of T'Challa/Black Panther, one of the newer additions to the Avengers within the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe).

In the film, which follows the events of Captain America: Civil War, T'Challa, now a king, returns to his home of Wakanda (a fictional African nation), where he must protect his people — and the world — from two brutal enemies on the rise: genius Wakandan exile Erik Killmonger and ruthless tribal warrior M'Baku.

Directed by Ryan Coogler, Black Panther stars Chadwick Boseman as T'Challa/Black Panther, who made his onscreen debut in 2016's Captain America: Civil War, as well as Michael B. Jordan (as villain Erik Killmonger), Lupita Nyong'o, Winston Duke, Andy Serkis, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Forest Whitaker, Angela Bassett and more.

Black Panther hits theaters February 16, 2018. Watch the new trailer up top.

Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Black Panther made his debut in the July 1966 #52 issue of Fantastic Four.

Black Panther is largely credited as being the first black mainstream comics superhero.

Marvel's 2018 theatrical film lineup also includes Ant-Man and the Wasp, Avengers: Infinity War Part 1, Deadpool 2 and Venom. Black Panther will also appear in Infinity War.
