Vin Diesel’s ‘xXx’ Will Return Again

xXx: The Return of Xander Cage only made $44 million in the U.S. last January against a reported $85 million budget. But it also grossed an incredible $301 million overseas, where star Vin Diesel remains an even bigger draw than he is here in the States. Weird belly tattoos, it seems, are the international language of love.

The ‘Happy Death Day’ Trailer Invites You to Relive ‘Groundhog Day’ as a Slasher Movie

The innovators over at Blumhouse — the studio that gave us recent horror hits like Get Out and Split — just revealed the trailer for their latest chiller: Happy Death Day, which turns the premise of Groundhog Day, where a hero relives the same day over and over, into slasher film fodder. In this case a young woman (Jessica Rothe) celebrates her birthday by getting brutally murdered by a psychopath in a mask ... and then wakes back up in bed the previous morning. She keeps reliving the same day (her death day, if you will) until she can figure out who killed her.

Corrine Issues Statement About ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ Incident

With allegations and rumors still flying in the wake of the incident on the set of Bachelor in Paradise, one of the two parties involved has issued a public statement. Here is what Corrine Olympios has to say about the alleged sexual encounter she had with another contestant, DeMario Jackson, which was apparently captured on cameras and was alarming enough to eventually shut down production of the show and launch an investigation into the production’s “misconduct” (via TMZ):

‘The Conjuring’ Franchise to Spin Off Into ‘The Crooked Man’

When the history of this era’s horror movies is written, James Wan deserves his own chapter. Wan has had an enormous influence on the genre for the last decade, as one of the creators of the Saw, Insidious, and Conjuring series. Though he’s branched out his directorial pursuits (he made the tremendous Furious 7 and is now hard at work under the sea on Aquaman), he’s also lending a creative hand on the ongoing universification of The Conjuring, which now has now less than three parallel spinoff series in various stages of production at Warner Bros.

Dwayne Johnson Posts a Monstrous Sneak Peak From the ‘Rampage’ Set

We must now expand our description of prolific actor, producer, businessman, and pumper of muscles Dwayne Johnson’s many skills to include ace social media marketer. No wonder Johnson has become one of the highest-paid actors in Hollywood; not only is he a hugely likable (not to mention literally huge) screen presence, he’s better at hyping his movies on social media than just about anybody. See, for instance, Johnson’s latest tweet about his upcoming disaster thriller Rampage:

Chris Harrison Apologies to Fans for ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ Delay, Hopes Show Will Resume Soon

When the first wave of stories about alleged misconduct on the set of Bachelor in Paradise hit, they seemed incomplete. They described an encounter between two contestants of a sexual nature, and a producer who witnessed the incident then failing to come to work, prompting the entire production to be shut down until an investigation could be concluded. Given the nature of most shows in The Bachelor franchise, this sounded odd.

‘Cars 3’ Review: Lightning McQueen’s Third Lap Is His Strongest Yet

For some Pixar fans, the Cars series represents a fork in the road; the moment when Pixar ended its “run of greatness” and “lost its way” after a decade-long string of critical and commercial hits. Writers hold up this franchise as evidence of a corruption in the beloved animation studio’s “soul”; many believe it’s responsible for Pixar’s “first bad movie.”

Neill Blomkamp Didn’t Mince Words Talking About the Failures of ‘Elysium’ and ‘Chappie’

I haven’t liked all of Neill Blomkamp’s movies, but I like Neill Blomkamp. He’s a filmmaker of bold ideas and obvious visual skills. The success of District 9, both with audiences and critics, speaks for itself. Since then, though, it’s been one stumble after another. His first Hollywood feature, Elysium with Matt Damon, was a disappointment; his follow-up, Chappie with Hugh Jackman, was a straight-up disaster. He moved on to an Alien sequel that sounded interesting (it would have featured the survivors of Aliens while ignoring Alien 3 and Resurrection), but Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant permanently killed any chance of the film getting made.

‘The Mummy’ Review: A Dark Beginning for a New Cinematic Universe

Tom Cruise is an analog man in a digital world. A master showman, he seems to understand better than almost all of his peers that no amount of computer-generated imagery can replace the simple thrill an audience gets seeing a real person do something incredible. For over 100 years, this has been one of the fundamental appeals of cinema: Watching an actor perform an impossible (and sometimes stupidly dangerous) physical act. There is no length Cruise won’t go to for our entertainment. Even when his movies are bad, Cruise still gives 110 percent, still provides at least a few mind-boggling stunts to enjoy.
