If he can bring sexy back, why not Myspace? It’s been revealed that Justin Timberlake was a significant financial backer of Wednesday’s $35 million dollar acquisition of Myspace by digital advertising firm Specific Media from former parent News Corp. Timberlake, who played Napster founder and Facebook investor Sean Parker in the ‘The Social Network’ will “lead the business strategy” for the new version of the floundering social network. Though he will have an office at Myspace HQ in Beverly Hills, Specific Media chief executive Tim Vangerhook said that JT is “probably not going to be there every day.”
American popular music has been around since before America even declared its independence. ‘Yankee Doodle,’ anyone? That classic was sung by Colonial American soldiers as early as The French and Indian War.
Since then, our country has established one of the richest musical traditions in the world. Many songs even deal with America itself, from ‘God Bless America’ to ‘God Bless the USA.’
Here’s a list of 10 to add to your Fourth of July playlist.
When a Chihuahua named Yoda took the stage, she was just the latest pup to win the title of World’s Ugliest Dog. But when she accidentally fell off, she tumbled headlong into an elite class of celebrity — those who have been caught on video taking a spill on stage, including megastars Rihanna, Beyoncé, Keith Urban and Justin Bieber. Luckily, Yoda was unharmed by the fall.
Our founding fathers weren’t messing around when they decided on red, white and blue. When it comes to planning a Fourth of July menu, neither should you. Three colors are more than enough to plan a five-star meal.
Below, check out some delicious recipes to help you celebrate our nation’s birthday in style.
Margaret lives in Germany and Evan lives in Texas. They’re both in college, which means transcontinental trips are not generally in the cards. Lucky for the young couple, Margaret’s parents decided to fly Evan in as a birthday surprise. In this heartwarming video, which was viewed more than 70,000 times on the first day it was uploaded , Margaret spots Evan at the airport instead of the family friend she was expecting. For the family friend’s sake, we’ll assume that he or she would have been greeted with an equal amount of tears of joy.
A group of about 200 concerned citizens dressed as zombies this weekend and marched through the British city of Leicester to highlight the city’s lack of preparation for an uprising of the undead. After Leicester resident Robert Ainsley learned (via a freedom of information request) that the city did not have a zombie contingency plan built into its emergency preparations, he and 26-year-old politics graduate James Dixon used Twitter and Facebook to mobilize the masses. The demonstrators walked from the famous Haymarket Memorial Clock Tower to the offices of city council in protest.
Weird Al has been making parodies since Lady Gaga was still a Baby Gaga, so it’s pretty impressive that he’s never looked better than he does in the video for “Perform This Way,” his take on “Born This Way.” Seriously, you have to be in pretty good shape to have your head transplanted onto a woman’s body at that age. It’s a very invasive procedure, carries a lot of risk, but he comes out of it looking flawless and ready to dance. The number of costume changes alone would kill a lesser man.
When friends Joe and Larry got stuck at the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport overnight, they embraced their confinement like two kids in an empty candy store. Once the airport cleared out for evening, they were off to the wheelchair races. They also hit the escalators, the kitchen, the shoe shine chair and the airport bar, filming the whole adventure in HD for the internet to see. Check it out below:
A 12-year-old Bornean orangutan named Jorong became a viral sensation this week when video surfaced of him rescuing a seemingly injured moorhen chick from drowning in a pond inside his enclosure. The four-minute long, one-ape, one-leaf rescue effort took place at the Dublin Zoo in Ireland sometime before 2008 when Jorong was moved to a zoo in Western England as part of an international breeding program.
