Lady Gaga was the first person to hit 20 million Twitter followers, a stat she reached just last month. It’s a mere few weeks later and she’s already well past 21 million followers. Make that over 21,186,000 at press time.
Beliebers of the female sort, prepare to cringe, as Justin Bieber is beaten to a pulp on the cover of the 10th anniversary issue of Complex, which is also the mag’s April/May 2012 issue. We also get to watch The Biebs box in the accompanying behind-the-scenes video. Granted, it’s all CGI blood and gore, but it’s graphic. Bieber’s face has obviously remained in tact, but whoa if these shots aren’t jarring.
Lady Gaga was the subject of ‘Oprah’s Next Chapter’ on OWN tonight (March 18). Cameras followed her to the Harvard launch of the Born This Way Foundation and inside her parent’s New York City home where she grew up, the latter of which had never been infiltrated by the media.
Lady Gaga‘s two-hour ‘Oprah’s Last Chapter’ special airs Sunday, March 18, at 9 PM ET, on OWN. The big to-do about the interview is that Gaga has proclaimed, via a preview clip, that this will be her last major chat for quite some time as she enacts a media moratorium. Leaking that particular sound byte could be a savvy promotional strategy employed by OWN execs in order to get people to watch and send the ratings through the roof, since Gaga might be shutting up for a while. Even so, the special is worth watching, since the Mother Monster is joined by her own mama, the lovely (and lookalike) Cynthia Germanotta, during the chat.
Lana Del Rey performed on the ‘American Idol‘ stage last night (March 15), only we didn’t see it. That’s because the much maligned singer pre-taped her performance due to scheduling conflicts (!) which prevented her from signing live.
Puck’s getting a dad on ‘Glee.’ The producers have cast a veteran prime time actor as the man who sired Puck, and it’s none other than former ‘Melrose Place’ bad boy Thomas Calabro. You my recognize him as the villainous doctor Michael Mancini on both the original and the failed reboot of the nighttime soap. Puck and his father are estranged, so this should be a meaty part for Calabro to sink his fangs into.
Justin Bieber is the latest in a long line of celebs and stars to etch his virtual John Hancock on an online petition that hopes to have the rating for ‘Bully’ lowered from an ‘R’ so more people across a larger age group can see the film. A-listers are signing the petition in hopes of enacting change.
On tonight’s (March 14) episode of ‘American Idol,’ the contestants were asked to perform songs from the year of their birth. That means the range of years was from 1983 through 1995. We know, we felt old, too. will.i.am returned as the mentor, dispensing quirky advice, telling one contestant to lay down when she sang to monitor her breath.
Jermaine Jones‘ dismissal from ‘American Idol‘ over outstanding arrest warrants was addressed on tonight’s episode (March 14.) It cleared up a lot of questions and hopefully squashes the rumors that the gentle giant is some sort of violent criminal, as press reports began to indicate when news of his ouster broke.
