90s @ Noon Thing Of The Week – Tamagotchi, GigaPet

Tamagotchi, Gigapet, Nano Baby, all of them seemed like a really good idea for parents to give to their kids.  Teaches them responsibility and how to take care of a pet without all the mess and stress of a real live animal.  But, this may have been the precursor to cell phones in the classroom.  Teacher's desks must have been full of these things as kids would constantly be playing with them in class.  If you remember forgetting to take care of your lil electronic pet, take a drink.
